US government will not recognize regional referendums in Ukraine

The US government said Monday they will not recognize the referendums for independence held Sunday in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions, calling them illegal under Ukrainian and international law. Now, with separatist leaders in those regions publicly considering petitioning to join Russia, our Washington DC correspondent Alice Ollstein reports that the White House and State Department are raising concerns about the fate of the nationwide Ukraine elections scheduled for just a few weeks from today.
