INTW: Will US consumers suffer over AT&T/DirecTV merger?

Two more telecommunications giants are getting set to merge as AT&T and DirecTV announced a nearly 50-billion dollar union to take on their cable competitors.

The deal marks the latest seismic move by telecommunications companies to harness the TV industry as customers increasingly turn to mobile apps and devices for their programming.

The announcement comes as regulators chew over an earlier merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable.
