It's exactly a year til the UK's 2015 General Election.

But as campaigning begins to hot up, there's a warning that the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats need to agree rules on policy-making in the last twelve months of their unprecedented coalition.

The Institute for Government is warning clear guidance is needed for civil servants to maintain their impartiality as the Conservatives and Lib Dems enter 12 months of supposedly working together while campaigning against each other

These are uncharted waters because this is the first post-war UK coalition gvoernment.

The Institute for Government's Akash Paun has been talking to LBC radio about the tricky year ahead.

When it comes to the polls, the smart money might well be on another hung parliament.

Opposition, left-of-centre Labour, have not opened up as significant a lead in the polls as they would hope or expect.

The Conservatives have not benefited in the polls yet, as much as they would have liked, from a growing economy.

The Lib Dems hope to be credited with helping deliver a stable coalition and growth.

But all three parties are now faced with a challenge from upstart UKIP - anti-immigration, anti-EU and set to perform well at this month's European elections.
