Obama unveils plans to limit carbon emission

For the first time the US government has proposed national limits on carbon dioxide, as part of President Barack Obama's efforts to tackle climate change.

The Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan seeks to cut carbon emissions from 2005 levels by 30% by 2030.

But it is likely to meet stiff opposition from Republicans and politically vulnerable Democrats in coal-producing states, as well as legal challenges from industry groups.
