An international protocol is being launched - essentially a checklist of what governments must do to eradicate the problem.
The summit is being hosted by actress and UN Refugee Special Envoy Angelina Jolie and the British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
Officials from a number of African countries including Sierra Leone, Ghana and the DRC are attending the event.
