DRC Rwanda Clashes







Uganda says fighting between Congo and Rwanda threatens regional security.

This after clashes between forces of the two neighboring countries in a border town left five soldiers reportedly killed in gunfire exchange.

According to Major Ronald Kakurungu a spokesperson of a Ugandan military division, the fighting in the neighborhood poses a threat to peace not only for the two countries but to regional neighbors
He warns that the Kampala government will not take chances and will continue to monitor the situation so as to protect Uganda’s borders.

Rwanda and Congo have accused each other of harboring and supporting rebel groups against either government cleardot.gif

The fighting comes less than a year after Congolese army backed by UN forces defeated the M23, a rebel group that once captured Goma, the capital of mineral rich North Kivu in Eastern Congo.
