Exactly what did she know? The question FBI investigators are trying
to answer as they continue to question Omar Mateen's wife Noor Salman.
TAKE VO
A grand jury is now investigating claims she knew her husband was
planning an attack - even tried to talk him out of it.
TAKE VO
But updating reporters US Attorney Lee Bentley refused to say if
charges were likely.
SOT - Lee Bentley, US Attorney
"I am not going to speculate today as to any charges that may be
brought or indeed about whether any charges will be brought in this
case. It is premature to do so."
TAKE VO
The FBI is however asking for the public's help to gain as much
information about Mateen as possible.
But FBI Special Agent Ron Hopper said he only ever had one target in mind.
SOT - Ron Hopper, FBI Special Agent
"At this time, there is nothing to suggest there were any other target
other than the Pulse nightclub."
TAKE VO
Away from Orlando the political fallout continued.
Donald Trump - fighting criticism from Hillary Clinton, President
Obama and his own Republican party - doubled down on his recent
rhetoric by saying the victims are the nightclub should have been
armed.
SOT - Donald Trump, Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee
"If the bullets were going in the other direction, aimed at this guy
who was just open target practice, you would have had a situation
folks which would have been always horrible but nothing like the
carnage that we all as a people suffered this weekend."
TAKE VO
Hillary Clinton again promised tighter gun controls. And attacked
Trump's grasp of the facts.
SOT - Hillary Clinton, Presumptive Democrat Presidential Nominee
"The terrorist in Orlando was not born in Afghanistan as Trump claims.
He was born in Queens, New York, only miles away from where Donald
Trump himself was born. A ban on Muslims would not have stopped this
attack."
TAKE VO
On Thursday both President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will
travel here. The White House say they'll meet the families of the
victims, stand in solidarity with Orlando, and offer a message of
condolence and comfort on behalf of the American people.
