Ugandan Police have confirmed the arrest of the King of the Rwenzururu Kingdom Charles Wesley Mumbere.
This arrest follows attacks that rocked the country's Western District of Kasese killing Fifty-five people.

Gunshots rocked Kasese Town on Saturday morning as Ugandan security forces jointly mounted an operation on a separatist militia group allied to the Rwenzururu Kingdom.
According to the Police spokesperson Andrew Kaweesi - 14 Police officers and 41 suspected armed militia died in the battle in the Rwenzori region bordering Dr. Congo.

The Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere is a known critic of Uganda's government.
Ugandan Police say some of his supporters have been calling for secession from Uganda.
SOT: Andrew Kaweesi – Uganda Police Spokesperson - "I appeal to Ugandans to be calm, the situation is not out of control – the joint security forces will do whatever it takes to ensure that all these criminal elements are put out of action."

The latest fighting follows a series of attacks targeting security installations and armed officers.
According to the Uganda Police - the attackers use improvised explosive devices, guns, spears and machetes.
