NOTE TO EDS: THIS PACKAGE IS UPDATED TO INCUDE OBAMA/TRUMP ACTUALITY
President-elect Donald Trump has held his first meeting with President Obama in the Oval Office to discuss America's political transition.
President Obama called the meeting "excellent", and Donald Trump called the President a "good man" on whose counsel he hopes to rely.
It was an extraordinary meeting, given the political bad blood between the two of them,
From Washington, Simon Marks reports.

The current President welcomed the man who will succeed him into the Oval Office…a meeting filled with potential awkwardness given their well-known hostility towards each other.
Donald Trump, after all, is the man who led the so-called "birther" movement here questioning whether Barack Obama was even born on American soil.
President Obama has described Mr. Trump as "uniquely unqualified" to be America's leader.
But the Obamas now say they want the transition to go as smoothly as possible, and First Lady Michelle Obama took Melania Trump into the family quarters at the White House to show her where the Trumps will be living after January's inauguration.
After their 90 minute meeting, Barack Obama said it had been "excellent".

But these are deeply uncertain times not just in Washington, but around the country.
AXX
Protestors took to the streets of several cities, chanting the phrase "Not My President", and there's every possibility that will continue to grow.
AXX
Immigration lawyers like Michael Wildes say their telephones are ringing off the hook with people worried about whether Donald Trump really will go ahead with mass deportations immediately after his January 20th swearing in.
AXX
And….typical Washington…people are falling over themselves in a bid to get Donald Trump - the man whose catch-phrase on the TV show "The Apprentice" was "You're Fired"….instead to say "You're hired".
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is one of those angling for a job.
AXX
And so it begins…a political transition that could change everything here…..because what happens next? Nobody really knows.
