Thousands Protest Trump Victory Across US

Protesters took to the streets Wednesday in at least 10 US cities to
march against president-elect Donald Trump. From Chicago to Los
Angeles, thousands of Americans turned out to express their
frustration at the Trump victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton, who
won 228 electoral votes to Trump's 279.

Patrice Howard reports from Los Angeles.

VO1: Not my president, the protesters yelled, as they marched through
the streets of downtown Los Angeles, holding signs high to spread the
message that "Love Trumps Hate."

We are here today to show the American people and the rest of the
world that we stand with them in the disapproval of our presidential
nominee Donald Trump.

VO2: An early morning social media post ignited a movement by
mid-afternoon, one driven by a diverse group of young Americans, many
who say they fear the Trump presidency.

"As a black and Mexican male in America it's actually very scary
knowing that we have a President knowing that we bring racists out of
areas you wouldn't even expect."

VO3: Soon after Donald Trump pulled off a major surprise, collecting
enough of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the US election,
protestors hit the pavement in US cities from coast to coast.

UpSound: Protest in Manhattan

VO4: In Manhattan, protesters are calling for impeachment, in Oregon
they are blocking streets.

VO5: Republicans meanwhile are raising their voices in celebration,
with many Trump supporters taking to their candidate's favorite social
media platform Twitter to applaud his win.

VO6: Down in Florida, the battleground state that set the stage of
Trump's election upset, even some Republicans who voted for the
billionaire businessman can't quite believe the election result.

"Of course I am happy because I am looking for a fiscally conservative
individual but you know I am surprised quite frankly..."

VO7: The 2016 US election turned a spotlight upon a nation divided, on
issues ranging from the economy to immigration. Speaking from the
White House Wednesday, US President Barack Obama called on the
American people to unite at the start of their country's new chapter.

"Everybody is sad when their side loses an election, but the day after
we have to remember that we are actually all on one team."

VO8: Some Americans say Donald Trump is not their president, but come
January 20th he will begin his four year term in the White House.
