Bill Clinton says his wife Hillary "looks like a million bucks" and will be back on the campaign trail later this week as she continues to recover trom pneumonia.
Mrs. Clinton's health is now center stage in the US election campaign, after she failed to disclose that she'd been diagnosed with the infection last Friday.
She says she kept the diagnosis out of the public eye because she didn't think it was "a big deal".
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is hitting back at Mrs Clinton's description of many of his supporters as a "basket of deplorables".
With the latest, our US Correspondent Simon Marks.

Sidelined by pneumonia, Hillary Clinton wheeled out her husband, former President Bill Clinton to fill in for her at campaign appearances….and to give an interview to CBS News.
He insisted she's well on the road to recovery….is likely to be back in front of crowds later this week.
And he firmly denied any suggestion that she's facing more serious health issues than those exhibited when she experienced dehydration at the 9/11 commemoration in New York on Sunday.
AXX
Mrs Clinton herself took to Twitter while she recuperated at the couple's home in upstate New York.
She thanked well-wishers for their support, said she's "anxious" to get back to work and promised to see everyone on the trail soon.
Her surrogates insist the conspiracy theories that suggest she's suffering from more serious ailments are precisely that: unsubstaited conspiracy theories.
Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York was with her at Ground Zero on Sunday.
AXX
Tim Kaine is her running mate and says the 68 year-old Mrs. Clinton has the stamina of a much younger candidate for the nation's top office.

BUT…it is now apparent that even he wasn't told she'd been diagnosed with pneumonia.
So closely held was the information that the man who could soon be a heartbeat from the Presidency wasn't taken into the campaign's confidence.
And for that even some prominent Democrats have blasted the Clinton campaign….President Obama's former campaign chief David Axelrod arguing that the candidate's obsession with privacy is causing ongoing problems for her campaign.
With health now and issue front-and-center in the Presidential race….both candidates say they will offer the voters more detail about their medical records.
In the case Donald Trump, that won't be difficult: so far, we've only seen a doctor's note proclaiming him the fittest man ever to try and win admission to the Oval Office….but he told Fox News he recently had a physical exam and will publish the results later this week.

Other than that, Mr. Trump - perhaps wisely - is shying away from the issue of Mrs. Clinton's health.
But he is not shying away from hitting back at her description of many of his supporters as racist, homophobic and xenophobic deplorables.
At rallies on Monday, he invited an array of his supporters up on the stage alongside him….a tableau of multiculturalism not often found at Trump rallies….but evidence he insisted that Mrs. Clinton has, as he put it, a heart "filled with contempt".
AXX
That's a theme to which he is bound to return in the days leading up to the first TV debate in 2 weeks time.
And he's already warming up…suggesting that the debates could be "rigged" against him even before the opening credits roll.
