In the US election, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump clashed over race, trade and the Iraq War in the first head-to-head presidential debate of the election.
TV pundits predict the debate was the most watched political event in history, and with the election looking tighter than ever, both candidates could hardly afford a bad night.
