Donald Trump expressing what many in the US are now saying - this so called 'Super Tuesday Three' - the third big Tuesday of votes in this primary season so far - is the opportuniy for him to seal the deal in his quest for the Republican nomination. Sweeping wins for him are likely to put him beyond the reach of Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio or John Kasich.
Conversely, for Republicans dead set on stopping him, this is a final chance to try and end his path to the top.
The 2012 nominee Mitt Romney urged people in Ohio to vote for their own governor, John Kasich.
SOT - Unlike the other people running, he has a real track record.
And meanwhile Florida Senator Marco Rubio is fighting for his political life - polls show him trailing Trump by a 2-to-1 margin - and if he doesn't win his home state, he'll almost certainly have to leave the race.
On the Democratic side, it'll be another test of Hillary Clinton's organisational strength and backing from party loyalists, against Bernie Sanders ability to bring in new voters and win in diverse states. The battleground will be the Midwest where Sanders will try to replicate his stunning victory in Michigan last week with wins in similar big, manufacturing-heavy, states: Illinois, Missouri and Ohio.
Campaigning in Illinois, Clinton criticised the state of the race on the other side of the aisle:
SOT - I don't think the stakes have ever been higher or the rhetoric on the other side ever been lower - they are George W Bush on steroids.
The vote comes after a weekend full of animated protests at Trump rallies and the cancellation of one in Chicago over security concerns. Although the man himself insisted his events aren't dangerous -
