There's fresh evidence that Donald Trump's bid for the White House may be unravelling in the United States, where senior Republicans are now said to be anguished about their candidate's behavior on the campaign trail.
On Wednesday, Mr. Trump's his own running mate, Mike Pence, publicly broke with his boss in a row over whether to support the re-election bids of senior Republicans in Congress.
And there's now open speculation in Washington about the possibility of top Republican leaders persuading Mr. Trump to bow out of the campaign against Hillary Clinton.

"Despair", "despondency" and "desperation" - three words Republicans really didn't want to be using about the state of their campaign for the White House.
But just ten days after the party's Convention in Cleveland, Donald Trump's campaign is widely described as coming off the rails after a series of self-inflicted gaffes and argumentative behavior, all of them seemingly driven by the Presidential candidate's extremely thin skin.

At a campaign rally in Daytona Beach, the candidate himself brushed it all off….insisting everything is on track for victory.

But behind the scenes, many Republicans are now openly speculating about ways in which Mr. Trump might be persuaded to drop out of the Presidential race…..especially after his refusal to back the re-election bids of two prominent Republicans in Congress: former Presidential candidate Senator John McCain, and the speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan.
Mr. Trump's vice-presidential candidate, Mike Pence, told Fox News he's backing them both.

With Republican leaders said to be "apoplectic" over Mr. Trump's behavior, one strategist took to Twitter to publish a 10-point plan aimed at persuading Mr. Trump that for the good of his long-term reputation he should stand aside.
And one TV network here reports this weekend leading Republicans including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuiliani plan an intervention with Donald Trump in a bid to "reset" his campaign.
Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, who has privately told people he's infuriated by his inability to control his candidate, is still publicly carrying Donald Trump's water.

He spoke on Fox News.
But he did nothing to dispel the notion of a campaign flirting with terminal trouble.
And that is now risking even the support of those loyal Trump supporters who have their man this far.
In Florida, Craig Walkee was at that Daytona Beach rally looking for a reason to continue backing the Republican candidate.

There is no precedent or established procedure for a party to dump its candidate AFTER he's won the nomination.
But such is the anxiety within Republican circles about Donald Trump's performance that once again, anything could happen.
