US Election: Clean sweep for Trump in five primaries

US Presidential candidate Donald Trump says he's the "presumptive
nominee" for the Republican party after winning a clean sweep of five
state primaries.

Hillary Clinton also gave a strong showing in the northeast votes,
winning four of the five states.
US correspondent Nick Harper reports.

TAKE VO
Five big wins from five states - a clean sweep for Donald Trump.
These north east states are strong Trump territory, close to his New York home.
And it was from there the billionaire celebrated his latest haul.

SOT - Donald Trump, Republican US Presidential candidate
"I just want to thank everybody. This is a far bigger win than we even
expected. All five. And that's something--, that's really, that's
really something."

TAKE VO
Similarly, consolidating her position as the Democrat frontrunner
Hillary Clinton promised to bring her party together.

SOT - Hillary Clinton, Democrat US Presidential candidate
"We will unify our party to win this election and build an America
where we can all rise together, an America where we can lift each
other up instead of tearing each other down."

TAKE VO
These latest wins don't hand either candidate their party's
nomination, at least not yet.
Republicans Ted Cruz and John Kasich announced this week they're
teaming up to try and shut Trump out in upcoming states.
Cruz is gunning for the winner-takes-all Indiana Primary next Tuesday.
Winning there would make it much harder for Trump to win the
nomination outright - forcing a contested convention, where any
candidate could get picked.
That's what Ted Cruz is hoping for.

SOT - Ted Cruz, Democrat US Presidential candidate
"Together the people of Indiana are going to send a powerful signal to
the media, a powerful signal to the Washington establishment that the
chosen candidates of Washington, the chosen candidates of big money
and the lobbyists, they are not going to decide the Republican
nominee."

TAKE VO
It now seems all but certain Hillary Clinton will pass the mark to
become the Democrat nominee.
But her rival Bernie Sanders says he'd stand a better chance against Trump.

SOT - Bernie Sanders, Democrat US Presidential candidate
"What we are seeing on national polls which have us 15 or 20 points
ahead of Donald Trump far more than Secretary Clinton.

TAKE VO
Trump and Clinton are nearer the nominations, but it's not over yet.
Now it's about when Clinton will have it all sewn up.
And if Trump can pick up enough delegates to prevent an almighty
battle at a contested convention in July.
