It's the last day of campaigning in the US Presidential election before "Super Tuesday" when voters in 13 American states plus the territory of American Samoa will cast their ballots in primary and caucus elections.
By the end of Tuesday night, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump hope they will be unstoppable in their respective quests for the Democratic and Republican Presidential nominations.

What makes Tuesday, "Super Tuesday", is the fact that it's the day when this early stage of America's Presidential election goes national.
At a stroke, voters in 13 states plus the tiny territory of American Samoa, get their chance to help determine which two candidates will face off this coming November.
More than half the delegates attending the Republican convention this summer will be won by triumphant candidates on Tuesday….and more than a third of the delegates to the Democratic convention will be awarded as well.
Hillary Clinton believes that following her overwhelming victory this weekend against Senator Bernie Sanders that she now has the Democratic nomination locked up….and you can hear it in her speeches, as she no longer attacks her Democratic rival, but instead focuses her fire on Donald Trump.

There will be those, however, who argue that an apparently great nation continues to embarrass itself with this extraordinary election process.
Donald Trump spent Sunday explaining away how a parody Twitter account had suckered him into re-tweeting a quote attributed to Mussolini.

But, he was pressed on NBC's "Meet the Press", did he realize that the Twitter account "il duce 2016" was in fact putting Mussolini's words onto his virtual lips?

And that wasn't all.
His two main rivals, realizing that Donald Trump remains the man to beat, were joining him in the gutter.
Ted Cruz of Texas implying that when Mr. Trump's tax returns are published, they could contain all sorts of intriguing revelations….

And Marco Rubio of Florida excoriated the Republican front-runner for failing to distance himself from an endorsement he received from David Duke, a well-known extremist and former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

A colorful weekend then, but yet another one entirely devoid of substance or serious discussion of the nation's ills.
Whether any of the mud sticks will become apparent in the next 24 hours, as voters in key states like Texas, Virginia, Colorado and many others make their choice.
If in November, it is indeed a Trump-Clinton battle….the dye could be cast on Super Tuesday.
