Ted Cruz surprised frontrunner Donald Trump, while Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders left to campaign in New Hampshire in a virtual tie.

one hundred eighty five thousand Iowa republicans turned out to caucus
beating previous attendance records by 50 percent or more
And about 6,000 more Iowans chose Senator Ted Cruz for the win.

public opinion surveys put Donald Trump in the lead
He ended up in a near tie with Marco Rubio...
which lead to a rare moment for the bombastic business man
a brief speech that was nearly gracious.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is suspending his campaign...as is Martin O'Malley, the former governor of Maryland on the Democrat side.
The man who virtually tied with Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, is seen as a much stronger choice leaving Iowa.
He put the focus on the Democrats.

For the next week, candidates from both parties will be driving the winding roads of mountainous New Hampshire...ahead of the primary... which is a straightforward election.
For the Democrats,
Bernie Sanders is expected to win handily
he's represented neighboring Vermont for decades
For the Republicans,
the question will be
will some one else emerge with momentum
such as Jeb Bush or John Kasich
or is the race really down to three men?
