Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will tour the September 11th Memorial in Lower Manhattan later today, on the second full day of their visit to New York and Washington.
Last night, they took in a basketball game in New York - but only after a packed day of activities that took Prince William to the White House and the World Bank, and saw him launch a new campaign against the private sector’s involvement in the illegal wildlife trade.
They also met Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at a reception honoring conservation workers.
And wherever they went, they created quite a stir…as our US correspondent Simon Marks reports.

It was William’s first ever visit to Washington….and his first stop was the Oval Office for a meeting with President Obama.
The two men exchanged smiles in front the cameras….and after the photographers were escorted out of the room, according to spokesman Josh Earnest, they talked about that ties that bind the US and Britain together.

TRX It was the Duke’s concern about that illegal wildlife trade that dominated his speech at World Bank headquarters here in Washington.
Hailed by the World Bank President as a “corruption hunter”, William made a passionate argument for co-ordinated global action to stop what he called “organized criminal gangs” from earning $20 billion a year in profits from the illegal trade in things like ivory and rhino horn.
The Prince said he does not want his children growing up in a world in which iconic species have become exitinct.
And he unveiled a new task force he says will work with private industry to stop illegal wildlife cargo from accessing global transport routes.
