New York generates an estimated 14 million tonnes of trash each year
but officials aim to send zero waste to landfills by 2030.
To help make that goal a reality, the city is holding a competition to
find creative solutions that reduce waste in public housing.
With one in fourteen people in the city living in these developments,
tackling trash management there is seen as a major step towards making
these long-term targets a reality.
