Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off tonight in their final Presidential debate of the US Election campaign.
It's taking place in Las Vegas, and comes just hours after President Obama urged Mr. Trump to "stop whining" and acknowledge that there is no evidence to support his claim that the election is going to be "rigged" against him.
Mr. Trump goes into the debate 8 points behind Mrs. Clinton in the polls, with the Democrats increasingly confident of victory.

It somehow seems strangely fitting that the last Preisdential debate is being held here in Las Vegas, in many ways the most plastic city in the United States. Scene for the final encounter between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton which, like the two previous encounters, may not offer much enlightenment for those interested in the Democratic process. And like a classic Las Vegas gambler, Donald Trump is coming here ready to stake everything on one final roll of the dice".

It is Donald Trump's new battle cry….a claim voiced relentlessly over the last few days that the outcome of the Presidential election is being rigged against him.
Its new prominence in his speeches coincides with the accusations of more than a dozen women who accuse him of sexual assault…..something he furiously denies…..and with opinion polls that have left the Democrats increasingly confident of victory.
On the eve of the debate here in Las Vegas, none other than President Obama sought to soften the ground for Hillary Clinton….

He told Donald Trump that he's a whiner….and not fit to be President.

That's an argument Hillary Clinton is likely to echo at the debate….her first public appearance in nearly 5 days.
The campaign took her off the road, partly to prepare for this debate….but also because they sensed that Donald Trump was doing a good enough job of damaging himself.

But there are opportunities for Donald Trump to go on the attack …. particularly over the latest revelations concerning Hillary Clinton's use of a private e-mail account when she was Secretary of State…and allegations that one of her lieutenants tried to encourage the FBI to declassify a secret document in exchange for the chance to deploy more agents overseas.
Mr. Trump could make headway with that if he marshals his arguments and controls his temper.
But even then, he and Hillary Clinton face voters who - like these people on the streets of Manhattan - can't wait for all of this to end,

This is the last opportunity both candidates will have to reach millions of voters tuning in for a 90 minute encounter that will be hosted by Chris Wallace of Fox News and will cover areas of both domestic and international policy.
Here in Las Vegas….where the slot machines keep cranking 24 hours a day….the debate is by no means the only attraction tonight.
The Rolling Stones are playing just 2 miles from the debate venue….I wonder how many of my fellow journalists here would sooner be watching Mick and the Boys.
