INTW: US warning over Afghan election crisis

 

Secretary of State John Kerry has warned Afghanistan's presidential candidates not to form a "parallel government." as the country's election mess continues. Preliminary results show Ashraf Ghani leading his rival Abdullah Abdullah who says the vote has been rife with fraud. The Afghan election commission is delaying announcing a winner while those accusation s are investigated. Mr Kerry, warned that any attempt to take power illegally following the vote would cost Afghanistan US support. Sarah Chayes, Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (lived and worked in Afghanistan for a decade) and Kevin McAleese began by asking if she was surprised by the election crisis....
