The death toll in Gaza has reached over 700 Thursday as Israeli tank fire killed 31 people in pre dawn assaults. Palestnian officials say the dead include an 18 month old baby and six members of the same family.
Over 30 Israelis have been killed in the fighting and in rocket attacks launched by Hamas into Israel.
Intense mediation efforts continue to try to broker a truce between Hamas and Israel, but so far without agreement.

Around one hundred and twenty thousand Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes and are sheltering in schools.
