Private sector looks to help fill UN funding gap

Lofty goals are often set during the United Nations General Assembly
but it takes more than good will to turn them into action.

Members of the UN are required to contribute financially to the world
body but the private sector is being called on increasingly to chip
in. [1]

Funds from the United States make up over 20% of the UN's annual
budget but the Trump administration has slashed its financial support
in a bid to streamline the UN. [2]

Critics of the move say funding cuts will impact the UN and some are
urging big businesses to step up and fill the void.
