PKG: Trump prepares to sign executive orders on immigration

President Trump is expected to begin the process of closing America's borders to Muslims within the next few hours.

Officials say he will sign executive orders restricting immigration to the US from 7 nations.

For the third day running the Oval Office will be the focus for a slew of Presidential signatures as Donald Trump makes good - or at least starts to - on one of the principal promises of his election campaign.

The documents he'll sign in a few hours do not close the borders completely to Muslims.

But officials say they will begin the process.

Refugees and some US visa holders from 7 nations will no longer be allowed to enter the United States.

The countries involved - Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen - all have large Islamic populations.

It's not clear how soon President Trump may seek to expand the ban….and there are indications that within his own government, his top officials are dubious about its legality.

Jeff Sessions is Donald Trump's pick for Attorney General - the country's top law enforcement official.

He said this earlier this month during his Senate confirmation hearing.

And if conservatives like Mr. Sessions oppose the idea, to liberals it is absolute anathema.

Even before the President puts pen to paper at the White House, a wide variety of non governmental organizations announced news conferences here to decry the move…saying it will make America "more fearful and less welcoming".

But Donald Trump knows it's what his voters want….and every day this week he's determined to take steps to portray himself as a man of action….wasting no time as he implements his agenda.
