Mr Cameron resigned following the UK's decision to leave the European Union.

David Cameron left Downing Street after what has been a turbulent few months in British politics...

VO: His legacy? Legalising gay marriage and leading a successful campaign to keep Scotland within the UK are among his major achievements - although it is likely to be dominated by one decision - Brexit.
And so, it was out with the old and in with the new...
Theresa May formally asked by the British Queen to form a government...
"Theresa May's in-tray is full and urgent. She has to unify a Conservative Party which has been split over recent months - and start that process of getting the UK out of the EU."
Theresa May will be under pressure from Brussels trigger Article 50 - officially starting that 2 year countdown to Brexit...

"They will try to put that off as long as they can because it is the only bit of leverage Britain holds over the EU - it has nothing else. The only thing really stopping them of course from putting it off for ever is the fact they're going to upset the same European negotiating partners who they then need to deal with when they do press the button. But they will do everything in their power to put that off as long as possible."
