TRUMP TRIUMPHS
Intro: Donald Trump has formally been nominated the Republican Party's Presidential candidate in this November's election.
The move came on the second day of the Republican Convention in Cleveland, and Mr. Trump will formally accept the nomination there on Thursday night.
The Convention also turned its attention to economic policy, with a series of speakers lambasting free trade agreements already negotiated by the United States and threatening to torpedo the proposed Trans Pacific Partnership, the TPP.
From the Convention in Cleveland, our US Bureau Chief Simon Marks reports.

After a rocky start, events on the floor of the Republican Convention finally brought music to the Trump campaign's ears.
It was the state of New York that officially put him over the top in the state-by-state Roll Call….and his own son who made the announcement.

Mr. Trump was not here for the vote.
He spent the day in New York and I'm told that behind the scenes at Trump Tower he was deeply unhappy about allegations that in her speech on Monday night, his wife Melania plagiarized Michelle Obama.
He demanded explanations from his staff…..and expressed consternation that no one had caught the mistake.
Then to move the national conversation AWAY from the plagiarism allegation he decided to take the highly unusual step of accepting the party's nomination in a video link BEFORE his scheduled speech here on Thursday night.
TAKE TRUMP SOUNDBITE (Super: Donald Trump, Republican Presidential Candidate)
"Let me tell you from my heart, I am so proud to be your nominee for President of the United States. I can't wait to speak to you on Thursday to share with you my plans to lead us out of today's crisis and into a brighter and more hopeful future".
So Donald Trump is no longer the presumed Republican nominee….and this is now his party.
In the Convention's remaining days he's got to do whatever he can to unite a fractured party around him, and persuade voters that the mis-steps of the last few days are behind him.
