"When he was leading the refugee organization that was a transformational shift for us because it changed the way we spoke about refugees, and in the end that earned many more resources for us to improve the lives of refugees. And he's also a person of deep humanity. Overtime he went to the field he'd speak to refugees and he was compelled by their circumstances and they were moved by his engagement."

"I can not imagine a more thankless job than being the Secretary-General of the United Nations, because there are always going to be problems that are never going to be solved. There are new problems that are always going to arise. We should expect the Secretary-General to solve the world's problems, but we should expect him to try."
TAKE VO
And there's an expectation that Guterres may do better to achieve more than past Secretary-Generals.
Having both a political and humanitarian background he's able too engage with all sectors of society, form presidents to refugees.
TAKE VO
2017 will usher in a new era for the United Nations. The global conflicts will remain and it's not clear how much of an impact Antonio Guterres will have on them. But there's a feeling that the UN is now swapping a bureaucrat for a humanitarian. And that in itself could make the difference.
