Quant trading blamed for increased energy market volatility

The price of oil has roughly halved since last summer dragging down
the share prices of major US energy companies on Wall Street.

But volatility in the energy market also brings with it opportunity
and high-frequency traders have been attracted to this temperamental
commodity.

But with this brings concern that their involvement is exacerbating
price fluctuation in the market.
