Retail hubs face fresh challenges in age of e-commerce

The rise in e-commerce has put a strain on brick and mortar stores
around the globe.

Retail analysts believe there are roughly 1,200 malls in the United
States but predict this figure could be significantly reduced if
online shopping continues to grow in popularity.

Some fear this trend, along with rising rent prices, could also have a
lasting impact on some of the country's most iconic shopping
districts.
