Britain's Prince Charles has met with Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams at the start of a royal visit to Ireland.
It's the first meeting meeting in the Republic of Ireland between a Sinn Fein leader and a member of Britain's Royal Family.

Mr Adams smiled back, and in seconds the brief but significant moment was over.
Gerry Adams had spoken beforehand of it being important however long it lasted.

But this was the first meeting in the Republic between a British royal and the sinn fein leadership
Mr Adams hopes it will help the still ongoing peace process.

Prince Charles met a number of other politicians at the event in Galway and used it to pay tribute to the Irish people.

Prince charles will also visit the village where his great-uncle earl mountbatten was assassinated by an IRA bomb in 1979.
